| Abstract | Remote sensing technology delivers the most important subsidies for the identification and monitoring of land cover change and natural or man-made disasters on the surface of the Earth, effectively supporting prevention, monitoring and control plans and actions related to the oil industry operational activities. This paper introduces a new open source knowledge-based environment for automatic image interpretation, called InterImage. which can be applied for the monitoring and identification of informal settlements built in security areas along gas and oil pipelines as well as for the discrimination among man-made oil spills, algae, and exudations. |
